Bee Paintings: Encaustic art by Kathleen Thorsen, a renowned artist from Crystal Beach, Ontario.
Kathleen’s work has been exhibited in several art galleries in Ontario and are on display in her own art gallery.
Encaustic art or hot wax painting involves adding together pigments and heated beeswax.
It is the oldest method of painting originating in Greece in the 5th century B.C.
"The bee has been associated with fertility, perfect models of human society, mediators between the natural and underworlds.
They also symbolise the ability to accomplish the impossible".
